Obama’s Contradictions to America Eight years in office, and there is not much to show for Obama’s presidency. Obama had great hope and promises to America when he first started his presidency. With these hopes and changes followed fear and dissatisfaction. With his democratic views, came much frustration during, and after his eight years of work. Despite Obama’s charm, intelligence, and public relations, he did not make it to success because of his own standards, followed by his own words and actions causing his economic and social views to fail. He was unable to understand that wealth is not given, it is earned through enterprise and innovation. America is left once again to deal with reality rather than the fantasy people were told were going to take place during presidency. What was the main source of the failure to complete his thoughts and ideas? He never did create an economic stimulus in the quality of American lives. Obama truly did not understand and respect the power of freedom and how important the people come into play when it comes to economics. His plan was to increase taxes on higher income Americans, reduced federal budget deficit, and improve inequality. Obama kept telling the public he was “fighting for the middle class,” but in a continuous downward spiral it’s actually falling since the recession ended back in 2009 causing it to slowly fail. The president's public policies do not match his concern for growing the middle class. According to Mark J. Perry and Thomas A. Hemphill on aei.org they point out the “Shrinking Middle Class.” “To the reduction in economic freedom for entrepreneurs, to a nearly double digit ‘real’ unemployment rate, to a GDP rate that has been less than half the 3 percent growth necessary to get the middle class back to work.” (1) The economic evidence provided from his presidency gives points of reality that the average Americans are left worse off than before Obama was in office. Obama put so many regulations on the economy and enterprise that it created such a tight barrier for much of the middle class entrepreneurs to start any kind of business. In conclusion of the realism caused by his actions, Obama’s actions did not meet his standards of completing the middle class. This adversely left the middle class with a harder potential to prosper and get ahead. More Americans feel that Barack Obama’s presidency divided the country than feel it brought people together. “It’s one of the few regrets of my presidency- that the rancor and suspicion between the parties has gotten worse instead of better,” Obama said last January in his final State of the Union address. This frustration is among longtime Obama supporters about lack of his majors priorities such as the fantasies Obama painted before office. Obama tried, but trying is not the same as pulling through and sticking to the words you promised to America. According to an AP-GfK poll over half of the African- Americans say Obama made no difference in making things better for black people. Despite the persistent challenges that he faced, things had not changed enough to make a huge impact on America. “The election of the nation's first black president raised hopes that race relations in the U.S would improve, especially among black voters,” Pew said. By 2016 there was many violent encounters with police and black lives matter movements according to Pew think tank. Many people wonder why Obama Care was not a huge success. According to Nick Clements on forebes.com “The mid level benchmark plan will increase its premium by an average of 25%. Approximately 20% of people will only have only one insurance plan available.”(2016) The Democrats promised something very unlikely that could not happen coming from the facts and reality laid out, the very opposite is happening and premium prices have gone up 25% in the coming year. Trump wrote one morning on Twitter that, “The democrat Governor of Minnesota said that Obama Care is no longer affordable. It is lousy healthcare.” (2017) What actually drives prices is abundance which comes from the people’s productivity. With lower prices leads to investment and entrepreneurs, workers, and money is made form. This is the topic Obama did not understand or value. Obama had a very strong socialist view in gun control. He believed taking away or limiting guns would help gun violence. He did not quite understand the importance of guns, and what they bring as a respectable idea to the American people as a right to freedom. “Gun violence requires more than moments of silence. It requires action. In failing that test, the Senate failed the American people.” Stated President Obama in a tweet @10:11 AM- 21 Jun 2016. In Obama's eyes he is in power, the government has control, leaving this people without a piece of freedom to the right to bare arms. “Yet, for factions from remote townships who romanticise about 18th century-styled militias, and view gun ownership as the fundamental constitutional right.” according to Khaled A Beydoun. Obama said he failed in creating more gun control, but this was to show that Americans were not interested in passing more gun control. In all shootings the answer to this issue is always a gun in return. This would fail because it's not what the people were yearning for because it could violate their freedoms which is a sensitive part of America. Despite Obama's efforts and his ideas he was overall not successful in completing his own tasks he had in mind for the future for America. He was unable to complete Obama Care, Gun control, and failed to help the middle class along with leaving the U.S more divided than ever before. The reality does not always come with success if you have high hopes for America. Obama was unable to get economics right and nothing else fell into place in the end of Obama's fantasy.
